The Void

The Void.
It is the space within man,
distinct from substance, contrary to matter,
yet occupying space in the finite capacity of the human chest.
The Void is plague,
taking over the being—leeching it to death;
yet this vacancy persists in immediate sight:
occurring at birth, then growing along with the child,
staying dormant until the age of the first-conceptual thought,
expanding drastically upon the occurrence,
to occupy the mind, and deducing the infected to incompetent men.
Yet it boasts a fatal flaw, causing great suffering and remorse
to the inflicted ones:
The Void is the antithesis of substance, but it strives to gain the ability,
to occupy space—come alive from the persistent vacancy it embodies and hosts.
The inflicted spend their lives in the attempt to satiate the void,
but with little success, they descend under gravel, as offering to the soil,
or become engulfed in the flames, and reduced to ashes—
growing hollow, undoing the chest, and doing away with the void.

“Isn't that a beautiful idea though?
A void wanting to be full?
A flightless bird wanting to fly?
A Glacier melting into the ocean—now tarnished;
The Distinction of the fair from the dark;
The Distance of the bleak from inviting arms;
Of autumn to birth a flower;
Of a woman to birth a child and become a mother?
These are things that can't be assumed, yet these entities strive for it…”
